Tapah
Date :
Thursday, October 01, 2009
Description :
The underlying theme of karma is reflected in all of Rekha Shivdasani's work. Her recent artworks have been based on the concept of tapah (tapasya). Her works are largely abstract or semi abstract. Symbolism and sub-textual meanings are closely woven into the strokes and figures. Interestingly, she has used colour as a symbolic tool. Initially, works are in red and black. These are bold, vivacious, and celebrate life. The colours evolve into the browns, which are earthy tones. Next come the meditative shades, blue and grey. Finally, my paintings take on a white hue, symbolic of the ultimate destination reveals the artist. (see profile)

Reflections
Date :
Tuesday, September 01, 2009
Description :
Harisadhan Dey has travelled a long-way since his student days, capturing the essence of life in common people and fascinated by the beauty of nature; Indian traditions and culture in an unadulterated mode, thus experiencing life in its myriad form and beauty. Dey firmly believes that the physical reflection of one's inner self is reflected through one's face. So, the face with different expressions like peace, tranquillity, innocence always is a great source of inspiration for him. Also, the influence of traditional Indian colour aesthetic and reflection of Hindu spiritual thought inspires him to work within themes close to the masses in rural and folk societies.

Shadow Play
Date :
Saturday, August 01, 2009
Description :
The subject of my painting is the 'Shadow', 'a golden experience of my life'. For me, object is not as important as its shadow, which are without attribute and are 'free' flowing with a beam of light. The Shadow can strew anywhere. This is limitless and infinite, and does not become restless like desires. To Be or Not to Be is not a matter, but it's existence is important to me. At times, the form of Shadow in my painting radically changes the original form of the object. Similarly, the source of 'light' renders a different angle, different appearance and newer expanse to the 'shadow'.

Sanctum Sanctorum - II
Date :
Sunday, April 26, 2009
Description :
'Sanctum Sanctorum' is a continuing body of work from artist Paul B inspired by his exploration of faith, spirituality and extremism in Christianity.

While working on his body of work presented last March as 'Sanctum Sanctorum', themes stemming from related streams of inspiration had already began to take shape in Paul B's mind. He has since breathed life into them in a new body of work aptly titled 'Sanctum Sanctorum - II' which takes off from where his last show concluded and continues his dialogue with the themes he had explored in it.
